The path from photovoltaic generation to a retired tonne — plus the integrity pitfalls careful buyers avoid before they purchase.
Solar PV produces electricity without on-site combustion. If that electricity feeds a grid dominated by fossil generation, each verified megawatt-hour can represent avoided CO₂e under the right methodology.
Metering makes the activity observable — a major advantage versus interventions that are harder to measure. Boards and auditors can follow a clearer chain: generation happened, a baseline was applied, verification occurred, serials were issued.
Solar clarity is an advantage, not a free pass. Additionality, grid-factor quality, and attribute ownership can still fail diligence.
At a high level, many solar methodologies relate emission reductions to:
Net electricity exported × grid emission factor (with adjustments defined by the methodology).
Real projects also account for auxiliary loads, outages, data gaps, and approved factor updates. Verifiers test whether monitoring followed the registered plan — not whether a brochure looks green.

Solar credit path
Not every solar plant automatically “deserves” carbon credits. Markets ask whether carbon revenue was decisive, whether policy incentives already made the project certain, and whether baselines remain valid as grids decarbonize.
Strong power sales alone do not automatically fail a project — but a weak “carbon made it happen” story should. INFINITNEX screens these questions before offering volume.
Power purchase agreements, renewable energy certificates (RECs or similar), and carbon credits can interact. If someone else claims the same green electron, your carbon claim may be challenged.
Double claiming happens when the same MWh underpins both an energy-attribute claim and a carbon credit claim without proper accounting. Diligence must make ownership explicit.

No. Eligibility depends on methodology rules, registration, monitoring, verification, and attribute ownership — not merely the presence of panels.
No. Buying electricity or RECs addresses energy attributes. Carbon credits address verified emission reductions under carbon-market rules. They can interact, which is why we screen overlap.
That can affect baseline intensity over time. It is one reason vintage, factor sources, and ongoing validity matter in diligence.
Yes. Share geographic and scale preferences early so shortlists match your policy — not generic inventory.
